The full name of HCG is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. It has been studied for over 60 years. These studies have proven real weight loss results with the use of the actual Human Hormone, HCG. This hormone is naturally produced by the placenta in pregnant women and almost completely controls the metabolic function through the hypothalamus throughout a female’s pregnancy. Contrary to popular belief however, the HCG used in the HCG diet protocols is a variation of the HCG form used for fertility treatments, and in a much smaller dose. All HCG used for medical purposes is natural, but created in laboratories from sterile cells. It is NOT extracted from women or animal urine- a common misconception.
It is the only real hormone that has long lasting effects with weight loss. It does this by resetting the hypothalamic gland. This gland controls when and where the body stores fat. All other diets used, including synthetically made HCG, have a starvation effect on the hypothalamic gland causing the body to store fat more rapidly.
Because HCG is a real Human Hormone it is governed by prescription and thus should be medically monitored so that it cannot be abused and so that it is administered safely. Homeopathic or non-prescriptive HCG is an imitation and has no effect on the hypothalamic gland.
The real HCG hormone causes the abnormal fat cells in the body to release 3500 calories a day which is what is needed to support the normal growth pattern of a living fetus. When used as a dietary supplement the person’s body lives off that same 3500 calories of energy, an additional 500 calories of highly nutritious yet low caloric foods are then eaten to provide the dieter with adequate nutrition. It is possible to lose on average of 1 to 3 pounds per day which is equivalent to 3500 calories.
Weight loss achieved through the use of HCG can only become permanent if:
1. Real HCG is used.
2. The controlled diet plan of either 500 or 800 calories per day is STRICTLY followed.
Your Doctor will decide what amount of daily caloric intake is best for you.
A typical daily diet consists of:
|Breakfast:||Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or Stevia may be used.|
|Lunch:||1. 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed. The chicken breast must be removed from the bird.2. One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.
3. One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.
4. An apple, orange, or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit.
|Dinner :||The same four choices as lunch (above.)|
While this may seem like a starvation diet, remember, HCG is enabling the metabolism of up to 3500 calories of energy from stored fats. Most people do not feel that hungry and can tolerate this limited food intake. This is also the reason that you should be monitored by a physician and also follow the foods listed in the diet plan.
The HCG Diet plan is not a lifelong plan. Once your desired weight has been obtained, this becomes your “set point” and your caloric intake per day is then adjusted to maintain your set point. As long as you maintain this set point by monitoring your caloric intake, you have achieved permanent weight loss!
